Hey all, well I'm here again to do a thread on the first anime that drew you into becoming an anime fan. Now while I was growing up, I had absolutely no idea what anime was. I just watched Saturday morning cartoons just like all the normal kids have all over the states, until I started realizing how different American cartoons and Japanese cartoons are in terms of story, animation quality, and voice acting. So before ever learning that Digimon, Pokemon, Dragonball Z, medabots, and a few others, I saw them as cartoons, but until I started watching Toonami and soon discovered anime in the larger scoop. I then started watching anime from that day forth, but to me the one anime that hooked me into loving it was a series I miss dearly and appreciate for it's place in my life and others. That series was the Tenchi trilogy: Muyo, Universe, and In Tokyo.
I loved the characters, I loved the story, I lover the actors voicing the characters, and I love the characters interactions throughout each variation, but my personal favorite was Muyo because even tho it has an extraterrestrial villain, it actually dabbles into the mystical nature of the alien characters. Universe was alright, it took the characters into a space opera and each episode was fun and dealt with each characters and we got an additional one in the form of Kiyone, Mihoshi's partner. In Tokyo is by far the more interesting of the bunch, it took the one element out of girls life, making each of them trying to cope but still able to annoy Tenchi in his new Tokyo apartment. I loved the animation style of In Tokyo because it gave them a tad more realism and was more of a drama than an action.
So to break it down Muyo was a magical adventure, Universe was a space Epic, and In Tokyo was a love drama with tiny bits of action. So in a quick closing, it's thanks to a young man and his bevy of beauties to draw me into the world of anime, so which anime did you watch that got you into watching all kinds of anime. I was at one of my friends houses once and one of her friends told her about Naruto and then she told me about it. I got pretty much addicted and wouldn't leave the computer. Eventually I started watching more and more. I did watch anime but didn't know at the time. So practiclly Magical Do Re Mi was my first anime without me knowing it.
The first anime I saw was Speed Racer, but I had no idea that it was anime. But I guess what really got me into anime full force was Dragonball Z and Silent Mobius. They rocked my viewpoint on animation.
It was Sailormoon before, but that was back when I was kid and didn't know it was an anime.
But what REALLY got me into anime was Digimon Adventure. It was my ticket to the world of anime. It was because of this anime I got attracted to DBZ, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei and the like.
like most i watch anime for a while never knew what it was call but still like a lot of them like sailormoon,gundam seed,fma, and a lot more. it was not until i rent dn angel that i found out what they where call and that there was a lot more. dn angel was awesome and started to notice i knew the voice of dark sounded like i hear it before and i had it was the same guy that did ed for fma. dn angel was awesome and still is one of my favorites from there i watch a lot of adv flims because i would just watch preview and was happy that i found a lot of great anime from that.
I can't remember going "hm, I think I like this anime stuff!", but the first anime I liked was Cardcaptors! I liked Pokemon when I was little, but it was Cardcaptors that really got me into anime, I think!
I don't remember there being a lot of anime on TV as a kid. All I know is I watched Dragonball Z and Pokemon. At first had no idea they were anime but after years of being a DBZ fanboy and just going on websites and forums about DBZ I finally decided to see what anime was all about.
So I guess it started from there but then I found manga and that's where I found the true greatness.
For me i say it was origannly Digimon, Pokemon and DBZ when i was a little kid but i thought they were cartoons it wasnt until last year that i fully got back into watching anime when i watched F/SN which i loved from there on it just grew and grew

Hmm Pokemon when I was a kid but like a lot of people here I didn't know it was an anime back then.
The first anime I watched with the knowledge of what it was would be Vision of Escaflowne [image: http://animeforum.org.uk/images/smilies/smile.gif] got me into fanfiction as well xD
