Since today, November 5th is my birthday, I decided to do something special this review by talking about my number 1 fav anime in the fall season. For those who're waiting for me to review some more serious anime, don't worry, I'm working on those as well. Expect many more serious shows soon. For now deal with another awesome comedy. This time, we're tackling an invader who's environmentally friendly and a laugh out loud riot on the beach, Invader Squid Girl!

Plot Summary: Squid Girl has come to the land from the depths of the sea to conquer humanity for its pollution of the ocean. Unfortunately she ruins the first house she uses as an invasion base and has to work to pay for repairs. Of course, she can't overcome the Aizawa sisters who manage the house, so who knows whether she can subjugate humankind.
Basically the show follows the plot of an Invading squid, shaped like a human girl, who's trying to get the surface dwellers to be more aware of the the damage they're causing to the oceans and also be more eco-friendly as well. Unfortunately, she has many setbacks to her original plans.
-She's not too bright.
-She knows very little about the surface and its dwellers.
-She has no army. Basically she didn't exactly prepare for an all out invasion. Basically one person can't invade an entire planet by themselves.
The other characters that Squid Girl meets are all lovable in their own ways., Heck, she even meets her own "Dib." For those who are familiar with "Invader Zim" , you know what I'm talking about.
The show does have a message about being more cautious about what you're doing at the beach as more people I know sympathize with Squid Girl's main objective.
The music is too awesome to deny. the OP is so darn catchy and the ED is a sweet tune to relax to. The rest of the music fits with the situations so yeah, nothing to complain about.
The animation is colorful and bright. Nuff said.
The rest of the cast: You have the Aizawa siblings:
The grumpy, yet kind Eiko.
-Chizuru: the usually calm, yet secretly powerful arch nemesis of Squid Girl.
-Takeru: The young and innocent younger brother of the siblings who likes playing with Ika.
The rest of the cast:
-The always super awesome Gorou: Lifeguard extraordinaire and madly in love with Chizuru.
-Token hot foreigner chick, who's shockingly smart, Cindy Campbell.
-Sanae: My 2nd favorite character next to Ika-chan,
-Nagisa: as explained earlier, the "Dib" character of this show.
There are more characters who will be revealed as the show progresses.
The show has a simple pace. Squid Girl is constantly aware of her original mission, yet is easily distracted by everyday events in the surface world. however, if she finds an opportunity to claim power, she'll take it.
Also, Ika also has special abilities. What are they you ask? Watch the show and find out. They're all awesome and actually trademark Squid abilities.
What I like about this show is that it doesn't try too hard to be funny, it just is. It doesn't rely on slapstick or running gags that often, except one in particular, but it's awesome in my opinion. Also, like I said, this show doesn't have any annoying characters. So yeah, this show rocks.
(Update): I suppose the show does rely on running gags more than slapstick though. Expect to see the same gag used more than once in multiple situations. Although I did mention some of the characters' charms, that's sadly all there is to them. If you don't mind seeing the same punchline a couple of times used in different situations with
