Default Something about Censorship I just thought about

OK, A quick Thought from me:

You know film Cencorship? a shady crew of Unknowns who make decisions of films?

Do you think it's Time that Groups like the MPAA and BBFC start to change things?

Recently a DVD of Code Geass had a second cut from it by the BBFC, after a lot of brain heamoraging it was found to be a "girls locker scene"...

Now granted some... 85+% of anime Fans are adults or older teens, surely Nudity is a selling point to us?

Not just that but also the BBFC allowed Tons of porn to be sold, and yet has Forbidden the selling of the US series Weeds...

So, the point is: rater than peoples with family's being used to make decisons maybe it's time Cencorship groups use people who LIKE the Genres of the films they Rate?
it's like comedy: If you don't get a joke or a style of humour, you won't like something...

Same with foreign and world Cinema: Don't get it, then don't bother!

So what do you loth think, have I got a valed point or am I talking out of my Rectum? Again...

Censorship has been around since we had TV, but it has become pretty lenient these days. A great example of this is Vampire Hunter D. Now when it aired on Cartoon Network, only one word was blanked out and it was 'bastard' and the scene with the Hydra was cut due to nudity. While damn, hell and bastard are now utterable, you still have shit and fuck to deal with. Since anime is mostly an open channel to any age, hearing a child say a curse word is very possible because it was said and it can be repeated. Same rule applies for TV and movies, because children are susceptible to vulgar language, the responsibility falls on their parents and guardians to teach them not to repeat them.

If you're part of a big studio, yes. You can pull a few strings and a few C**ks!

Indie Films rarely get such leverage, Hunter palice met with frequent remarks because of swearing and drug mentioning and nothing about the violence...

I think you hit the nail right on the head Lux-Vertas

Funny thing you know, once you think about it.They can show a couple making out and sexual innuendo on primetime television but censor a locker scene in an anime show?I think the sensorship board is a little touched in the head.To me its plenty obvious that a real life actors would have more realism to anime characters,Actually the one that get scrutinized the worst is anime.I see the roadrunner drop 10 ton anvils on the cayote and its not censored but when a anime character smashes another anime character with a car and thats sensored.I see the pink panther smoking a cigar and Roger Rabbit blowing heart shapes with cigarette smoke and thats okay but they edit out Sanji cigarette in one piece.

Dont even get me started on language,in essance there are no bad words in Japanese. There are not words for Bast***d or bi**h or even the F word. They dont even have a word that mean shit. They have a word that means faeces though. The translators are just using those terms to glorify the sentence to give it more inpact.Example,"Kisama" is usually translated as you bast**d or a**hole but the real sense of the word is actually directly translates to precious sir/master.I am sure you have heard the "sama" suffix being used to address lord figures in animes. It means that but what happens to the impact if they directly translate it to that?
I think the sensorship boards need a new outlook or better yet see a therapist.

Oh i dont just agree with you,i am willing to say Amen to it.

Parent groups might be one thing,They might pressure censorship boards but i think its more hate groups than anything.Just look anywhere online and you can find various anti-anime groups that are even signed petitions to ban animes. Why?for the life of me i do not know but they border on amnime being a bad influence.Plus it seems that the censorship boards are taking these issue seriously.I will also think the market plays a part. Here is an excerpt i will quote from a funimation censorship issue regarding DBZ.

Quote:
Dragon Ball Z was marketed to appeal to a wide range of viewers from all ages, and contains crude humor and occasional excesses of violence which are commonly seen as inappropriate for younger audiences by American standards. When it was marketed in the US, the distribution company FUNimation alongside with Saban decided to initially focus exclusively on the young children's market, because the anime market was still small compared to the much larger children's cartoon market.

Well... Humans are a stupid creature...

but Parent groups are bad too, as too many parents don't act like parents, how many times have you read a story about a kid dieing or being seriously injured because the parents were too busy with their own pointless crap? Too many times!

As such modern pea rants would rather let other people look after their kids, and when someone else has a differing view point... BOOM! It's like Unleashing a peeved off Lion in a pen of sheep!

As for the anti Groups... That is a sad factor to take in... but everyone is entitled to their opinion, and everyone is entitled to tell idiots to Shut the #### up! But to be honest, Given the current "Culture" of the US, a Culture that accepts and Embrases Greed and Criminality... Maybe points from another nation, that has the lowest crime rates in human history, should be aloud to influence another nation.

Key points there that i agree with.

Parents groups are pressuring censorship boards with their petitions. They seem to deem animation as unsuitable fpr viewing by children. What they dont realize its culture differences and misunderstandings of language translations that are responsible for this bad image on animation.

These "parent groups" should spend a week in Japan and see for themselves how conservative the Japanese really are. They be suprised to say the least.

I think you are right. The censorship on certain animes are far beyond what i would consider acceptible.
They allow more sexual themes to be shown on television but censors a locker scene with girls?I find that very unfair.
The double standard is there for animes. Some fight scenes in animes are also censored for their blood and gore but i see worse stuff on other programs on television.
