Default What would scare you the most in a film?

So, I was reading up about a new Minecraft update, and there are these new monsters that stop dead in their tracks when you look at them. However, when you look away, they come speeding towards you. Kinda off topic slightly I know, but this made me think of Doctor Who and the Weeping Angels episode or whatever they're called.

This got me thinking, what invokes fear the most? An actual event happening, or knowing that if you do something, you could trigger an event (The angels moving towards you).

In Drag Me To Hell, although it isn't all that good and scary, There's this one part (If I remember it properly, probably not though so feel free to correct me :P) where the main girl is upstairs in her room, and she can see the shadow of the Lamia(?)... Can't remember it's name. But anyway, she can see the shadow as if it is coming up the stairs towards her. This freaked me out for some reason, probably because you know something's coming, but you don't know WHAT exactly it is.

Another thing is the tension before something happens. You're expecting something to happen all the time which keeps you on edge. But when something actually does happen, you still jump.

I was playing Dead Space again recently, and this happens a lot in the game. There's a lot of tension because you don't know what the hell is going to happen, so you're constantly on edge and it's pretty intense...

So, I rambled on as always, but what would ummm... well, scare, but what would umm get you on edge when you're watching a film?

Now I've been thinking about it and I'm sitting here at 20 to 2 in the morning and I'm freaked out now

I scare easily when it comes to horror movies, but in terms of what would put me on edge during a scary movie?

First off, the setting. If it's like a little field or whatever, I won't buy it unless it's one of those fields where it gives off the creepy vibe and it's the middle of the night or whateverr.

If it's super quiet, that'll get me tensed up as well, but when you mix silence and the dark together, I think that would get me as well. However, creepy music and not knowing what to expect could get you too.

Heck, pull a suspenseful part and make something pop out, you'll see me jump. xD

Have you seen Insidious? That's a bit of a jump scare film for the first half, but then it gets pretty stupid. It tries to mix too many things into one, and the demon is hilariously funny

Damn, maybe the demon would be a lot more terrifying at that time hahaha
But seriously, why was it crafting masks? Or it looked like it was... XD

I think I've only seen the grudge once but I can't remember much about it >.<

Small confined areas, with only one or two people is another one that gets me on edge

I have an over-active imagination, the movie had scared the crud outta me 'til somewhere in the middle, but I was still a little paranoid towards the end of it. . .

Honestly, the demon didn't really scare me, I thought he was kinda cool. He was crafting masks? I must've missed that part. :o

The Grudge is pretty scary. I can't even stand to look at the DVD case without flipping out.

Ohh yes, enclosed spaces in horror movies. >_<

I don't know if it was but I think I can remember when the first time you see it, there's like this old type music playing and the demon's doing something totally normal and human like haha

I have a pretty bad memory of recent things

I'd look for it on youtube, but you know well... it's 2am and I'll only creep myself out... Not worth the risk man

Oh! I remember what part you're talking about now.

When it comes to movies, I don't.

Trust me. Don't.

Feel kinda bad cause my friend hates the Angels from Doctor Who, like she really hates them. So I sent her a picture of one over MSN and started doing like a mini story haaha..

They're coming....
They move silently
They're coming up the stairs...
In silence, they go to the room at the end of the hall...
To the room of the girl....

It went a bit like that, I think she hates me now hehe
Nah, she was fine after but I freaked myself out too o.o

I only get scared afterwards because I think about stuff happening... Damn my imagination and that's like the only time I do think Dx
