I'm getting hooked on a bit of electro at the minute. I'm traditionally a rock fan, but fundamentally an 80's fan (born 84, go figure ) with an openness to anything that sounds good (usually pacey but also with heart. Think Fernando from GTA VC).

Now given this lov of 80's (now extending back to 70's) I was amazed by an artist called Kavinski. He is new on the scene (within the last 10 years) but his sounds are from the 80's.

What I want to know is if anyone can pinpoint tunes and song orchestrated and written sometime after the decade it represents.

for example 80's style rock written in the 90's or 70's disco written in the millenium.

Also include formally defunct genres live punk that have been resurrected.

Do Not include Rereleases and remixes. The songs should be originals.

Songs with samples are fine provided the song is a reimaging (rewording) of an earlier song of the same genre (so yes to candle in the wind, but no to fugees ready or not or vanilla ice's ice ice baby).
