On sony vegas, you have a little thing in the bottom left:


You see that orange thing on bottom left? that is the speed in which you preview your video.

Now move it a little to the left and the video will be in slow motion, but dont move too much or it will be too slow, around 0,60 should be fine for you to hear where exactly the beat is.

That makes up for really good timing, I don't use it, I use the preview music, if you see those things on the sound track the larger it is, the louder the beat, so if you put a new clip when the sound amplification is maximum, you will be making timing in the right beat.

Currently I dont even use that, I put the clip, preview a couple of times, and see if it works.



Sony Vegas is the best program for timing.
With After Effects you will have to be an expert
