Around May and June last year I decided to build the habit of running after college. On days I didn't run I still went outside to maintain the habit. As soon as I arrived home I'd hydrate myself and freshen up, then go straight outside whether I was running or not. This way I never felt tempted to just stay in and relax, because going out just felt natural.

I had two different running routines. One was running normally, and the other was doing sprints.

The running involved running 1 mile in as little time as possible. I recorded this time and tried to improve on it.

For the sprinting, I found two points that I worked out were 100 metres away. I ran 100 metres, then jogged back, and rested for 30 seconds. I repeated this until I had done 8 sets, which adds up to approximately a mile (half a mile of sprinting and half a mile of jogging). To record my progress with this, I kept a record of my 100 metre sprint times and tried to improve on it.

The mile run took less time, so the average intensity was higher. But with the sprinting the intensity varied much more, and the maximal intensity was higher. So each running routine had different benefits, although they focused more on my anaerobic cardiovascular fitness (which applies more to short distance, high speed running) than my cardiovascular endurance.

I did the 1 mile run one day, then the sprinting the next, and on the third day I walked for 10 minutes. I continued this cycle each day I was at college.

    You are so dedicated I can see that you really care about doing your training well and keep meticulous records. I read that Bruce Lee kept a lot of records of his training and it seems to make a huge difference . You can monitor your results and adjust your training where it is needed to get the best outcome.I think I slip up because I am not methodical and do not keep proper records. You have inspired me to try harder when I do anything and try to record what happens daily. Then I might get better results with weight loss.
    Having good self discipline like you do is really important if you want good results.
    How long have you been training for? Do you train every day always?
