Oh man, I was loving Death Note for a while.

at least until...

"L" dies.
He was too awesome - ugh.

Just wondering if I should continue to watch it... does he ever come back? :(

I know!there's this point when he dies that it's a bit 'boring' but it will get better soon.Keep watching. The end is rewarding!:hehee:

The show does take a big drop in quality after episode 26. It introduces a few new characters. Most of which I hate. But the ending of the show is great.

I admit the episodes with L were fantastic and i really enjoyed all of the thinking behind the schemes and such. However, the quality did take a hit when L dies, but i think it picked up toward the end and I thought the end of the show was excellent.

I definately recommend you keep watching untill the end, as it is still fairly interesting and it does pick up towards the end in my opinion

Yeah it is still good, but the rivalry between L and Light just raised the show from good to excellent for me.;)

Yeah it's definitely worth watching. It had to happen though. If it wouldn't have then they would not have managed to keep Light from getting caught and ending it completely. There is a doldrum after that point, but you have to finish out the story. You got to at least see how it plays out, and it's pretty sweet what they end up doing with it.

I've finished this series long ago now :p

Personally I didn't really think it was worth it, but that's just me I guess. I loved L and Light constantly trying to catch each other. Near and Mellow aren't even close!

and if anyone should have caught him I think L was smarter than Near and Mellow combined, so he should have.

I agree...after that death....the main rivalry ended...like Sherlock and Moriarty....Suzaku and Lelouch....if one of them dies, its kinda tears you away from the story.:p

When L passed away, Death Note was over for me...

L dies, but it's his influence that drives the story to it's end. IN a way, L wins in the end

I wanted Light to win :c :hehee:

Yeah, I wanted Light to win too, but it was pretty obvious that he wasn't going too...

...personally the only thing that even slightly tainted my love of death note was Near, but I wouldn't say I stopped loving the series when he showed up

I loved the series until light started working with L.

Interesting, what made you dislike their working together?

To me, the whole series was the CONFLICT between Light and L. It was ruined by bringing in a new antagonist.

I think it was more intended to be a conflict between the two different perspectives on what a good and just world would be. I always saw it more from the point of ideology than character vs character.

I loved the series till Rem killed L & like 12 new characters were just shoved in. I'm with Kanoke, the conflict is supposed to be between Light & L, not Light & Near, Mello, and 5 other people. :-_-:

Isn't who the conflict is between up to the creators?

Anyways, I read the manga actually, and it bored me. I stuck through with it though. I made it through because of L, Misa, Near and Mello.

Meh, I rarey find manga as interesting as anime, try watching it and see if it grips you any more effectively

Thanks for suggesting, but I doubt I'm gonna bother with watching through the whole thing.

This is a shame because I think its one anime that is worth it. It is quite a good storyline and I normally get bored with the more superficial plots in some animes. This one I loved all the way through and it did keep entertaining me.

when Light relinquished the ownership of his Death Note and turned himself in, the series just ended for me, but i continued to see how it will end, and of course didnt like the end, and at the very few last seconds when Light laughed in a very stupid way i hated him even tho he was my fav character in the series b4 that

I totally agree, I would have loved to have seen L bring down Light, and although I was sad to see L die, I did enjoy Near as a replacement.
