Default Re: Anime news

Osamu Tezuka's Black Jack had a manga released in Young Champion called Young Black Jack, a prequel of his life before he lost his license. Unfortunately I have yet to read the manga myself since every place I scrunged, nobody had it translated. But my motivation to search for it online has resparked!
Edit: still no english translation online /sobs

YOUNG BLACK JACK GETS TV ANIME SERIES

Quote:
The 11th issue of Akita Shoten's Young Champion magazine is announcing next Tuesday that Yū-Go Ōkuma and Yoshiaki Tabata's Young Black Jack manga is getting a television anime adaptation.

Illustrator Ōkuma and author Tabata (Ninja Slayer: Machine of Vengeance, Akumetsu) are also starting a new arc of the manga as of the 11th issue. The two will host an autograph event to commemorate the anime announcement at the upcoming "Young Black Jack x Black Jack Goods Shop" in Shinjuku on May 23. The shop is opening on the sixth floor of the Marui Annex building on May 15 and will be open until June 1.
Young Black Jack is a prequel to Osamu Tezuka's classic series about a brilliant maverick doctor who practices without a license. Ōkuma and author Tabata launched the ongoing series in Young Champion in 2011 and Akita Shoten will publish the eighth compiled volume on May 20 in Japan. The prequel follows Black Jack when he was still a medical student in the 1960s.

It's not listed, but it seems YBJ will air October this year.

I'm so excited because I'm a very big fan of Black Jack, and I watched a few of the 90s OVAs along with the Black Jack TV anime from the mid-2000s. I also read 6/8 of the available manga online. Additionally, I'm a medicine geek so this makes me even happier! I love YBJ's illustrations (I've only seen raw scans and the art is BEAUTIFUL!)
