Well, one of my favorite deaths, though it might not be necessarily a death from my construction, is Roger Smith's from the anime, Big O. Basically, at the end of the anime, God (Big Venus is what the anime calls it, but I've always seen it as God to make the events easier for me.) comes down and erases him and his memory. Then the creators bring us back to the beginning of the anime. Before God does that, though, we see Roger Smith comforting a woman when he is supposed to be standing before Divine Providence. In the last episode, I also see a flashback of the character where it suggests that he is a robot. Either way, I suppose that he does die, but, in a way, he doesn't even though he loses his prior memory and is reincarnated, per say, with the rest of the stage. You have to watch it yourself to decipher my rationale.

One of the most tragic deaths in anime that i have seen is a vary sad one.
its in eflen lied when...

Spoiler!!Read if you dare! =p

Some boys murdered a poor little cute soft Innocent puppy just for the hell of it. That has to be one of the most saddest murders i have ever seen, i wanted to cry. The held it by the neck, threw it against the wall, kicked it, and started beating it and smashing its face with an empty plant vase, that was so depressing, very tragic.

Default Warning Spoils deaths from:Dragon Ball, Chrono Crusade, Death Note, and Higurashi

I think the first death of Krillan in Dragon Ball was very sad.

Also in Chrono Crusade when both Rosette and Chrono died together it was both tragic and yet happy

In Death Note Lights death was so sad, rather pathetic

Oh and of course every death in Higurashi no Naku koro ni/kai/rei is sad and very epic especially in Rei when Rika gets hit by the truck and starts the cycle all over again...So sad

Micchi from Kamichama Karin. Because he dies protecting someone who later dies them self. (Unless he doesn't, I'm still catching up on Chu)
And Hinaichigo from Rozen Maiden, because you sort of hate her until the minute she dies. Then you end up getting mad at yourself because you hated her. Not only that, they could theoretically bring her back to life but they DON'T.

Smile Best Deaths?

I personally think deaths in animes shouldn't be referred to as bests, because it's a tragic and sad thing (except for the deaths of villains of course) and it's stupid to talk and brag about it.

BUT, i wouldn't spoil the thread any further and post my reply just in case.

the best death, for me, would be Nagisa Furukawa's death. WHY? because it touched my heart and made me cry.

Lelouche dying was epic, although there's debate about whether he really is dead or not but Code Geass ended. So in a way they're all dead.
Death Note's ending....was disappointing
Archer's death was cool, kill 7times before dying.

I would have to say one of the saddest deaths was L's from Death Note. It could be just because L is my favorite anime character ever, and i believe he should have never died(xD), but his eyes after he died were just...sad. Especially because he said that Light was the first friend he ever had, and thats who killed him.
