My Species notes!

Notes on the Coral or Reef Lindworm (Lyndweris refiera)

1. Thinking about giving my new self whiskers like an eastern or something

2. I thought of Sexual Dimorphism for the species as well.

2a. To go into detail, Males have shorter but more ornate horns that look like branched coral. They also have shorter dorsal fins, more angular muzzles/jawlines, and more prominent stripes. And if I decide to give them whiskers, theirs would be slightly longer on the whole.

2b. Females have longer horns, but they are almost perfectly straight. Their stripes are thinner and their dorsal fins longer. They also tend to be a little bigger than the males.

3. Behaviorally speaking, Coral Lindworms are very smart, friendly, and curious. They easily spot anything out of the ordinary (Like say a diver) and will often inspect them upon discovery, swimming circles around them, smelling them, and feeling them with their whiskers. They eat reef fish, and in times of hardship will even eat coral, which they can only partially digest. They also seem to eat smaller sharks like catsharks and epaulette sharks, and there have been rare reports of them protecting small fish.

4. Coral Lindworms reach maturity at roughly 8 years of age, males often reaching anywhere from nine to twelve feet in length. The largest male recorded was fifteen feet in length. Females are usually between ten to fourteen feet in length. The largest female ever recorded measured in at twenty feet long.

5. Next to nothing is known of their mating habits, but they are believed to be ovoviviparous, or perhaps oviparous in regards to how young come into the world, but no eggs have ever been found.

5a. It is however known that they can freely sex-shift, though the process of doing so usually takes several weeks and is very taxing on them, meaning that most will only do so once.
